Frequently Asked Questions

The Palmetto Palace serves family members (18 years and older) of Adult critically ill inpatients at hospitals that have traveled 45 or more miles. Guests must provide a state, government or military issued photo ID, along with current mailing address.

How Can I stay/What do I need to do?

Referrals maybe obtained from the following:
(1) Hospital or medical facility, (2) physician, (3) case manager/patient representative (4) service or community outreach organization about your family’s need to stay near your hospitalized Adult Critical ill inpatient.

All services depend on the availability

Availability will be determined by location and hotel.

  • You are responsible for any phone calls, damages, room service(s) and / or parking fees. Neither the Hotel nor The Palmetto Palace will pay these expenses. Some hotels may require a refundable deposit upon check-in.
  • Scheduling a room a week in advance is encouraged but not mandated.
  • The Palmetto Palace will notify the family directly no later than 24 hours before requested arrival date, whether or not room space is available.
  • Families must notify the hotel of late arrival or the reservation may be cancelled. Please note check-in time will vary according to hotel.

If you have a change in plans, The Palmetto Palace should be notified immediately 843-532-3169.

Failure to notify The Palmetto Palace may forfeit your ability to receive future services. If you are cancelling within 48 hours of your check-in time, you must call the hotel directly in addition to contacting The Palmetto Palace.

Please have a back-up plan. Due to the high volume of events in the area, there are times when housing is not available or extremely limited. Families and Caregivers, who do not adhere to The Palmetto Palace Housing Guidelines, will become ineligible for future housing assistance. Please note that due to conventions and other events in the area, Housing may not always be available.
